Does anyone have any good methods for cutting test tubes ? I want to attempt to cast epoxy-graphite pistons in the test
tubes, but how can I cut the glass tube down to a usable size ?

Thats the way I do it on the lathe but use a hand held diamond file to cut thru.

Ni-chrome wire wrapped around the tube once with voltage applied, turns red, heats it to breaking. Use a clothes pin to hold the wire tight, insulator where they might touch.

Look down the page a bit to Stirling 'first run' by Chriske, there is a photo of a test tube being cut with a Dremmel tool. Ian S C
