Dynamometers- has anyone built or used one?

Post by brian hughes »

Has anyone measured the power output of a small Stirling, either with a brake dump or figuring out the flywheel moment of inertia and the angular acceleration? I cobbled together a very crude setup with a tachometer, a pad rubbing against a flywheel and some kitchen scales, and derived a power output of about 1.5 watts at 200RPM for an unpressurised engine with a 50mm bore, 50mm displacer stroke, and 25mm power stroke- does this sound like it’s in the right ballpark?

Photos are available- the forum software says they’re too large.

There are several free programs or apps for the phone, to reduce and/or compress photo size down to something manageable.

I generally use this app for a quick resize of photos before posting here.

I usually just set the pixel width to around 600, but anything under 1000 pixels should probably be OK.
