$$ Pricy $$ Tin can engine

Post by Tom Booth »

I came across this engine, for sale on eBay for about $500 plus shipping ($200).

Watching the video, it appears the engine itself is constructed from tin cans!

This is not a one off engine. The seller has been on eBay for more than ten years, and from the reviews, buyers are happy with the purchase.

It is claimed to generate 15 Watts by turning a 12 volt generator and can charge batteries.

I'm not endorsing the engine, or the seller, just surprised to see a power producing "tin can" type engine being marketed successfully.

For $700 though, with shipping, I think I will stick with building my own. Kind of nice to see though.

It has steel-can elements, but those appear to be for heat retention and cooling jacket.

Here may be the assembly of the inner workings:

Very impressive crankshaft. Would love to see a build if it.
