Hi guys!

I've finally decided make a little stirling as a project but I'm confused on the piston/displacer positions. I know the crank should be set 90* apart but, lets say, when the displacer is at TDC, where should the power piston be?
BDC? half way between? :s

Thanks,

Canuck

Half way between TDC and BDC is correct. Which side of half way will determine the direction of rotation. Usually, the displacer will lead the power piston by 90* in the direction you want the flywheel to spin. This can be a little confusing since direction can also be effected by which side of your engine is hot. You can also very this amount by plus or minus 20* and "tune" your engine but 90* is the recommended place to start and most likely the best setting for most engines. Good luck with your project, keep us posted.
