How do i make a linkage like this:

This stirling engine has a link in the middle of the piston rod that allows the rod to connect to the crank shaft without bending. how can I make this kind of connection? Unfortunately the vid does not show the engines link at rest.:

how about a universal joint, like the kind used for a ratcheting socket wrench?

It looks like it was made out of some parts from some old shock absorbers. Possibly off a motorcycle.

It's an open form of a cross-head bearing using the chamber seal as the guide. Basically moving the wrist pin (gudgeon pin in UK) away from the piston to the bottom of the piston tail rod. This helps reduce side load on the piston as it travels back and forward. Common element on large marine diesels and older steam engines.

Normally used on GAMMA and BETA motor displacer rods, although I have used a Scotch Yoke instead on a couple of motors.
