I have a stirling engine pretty much identical to this one. What would be the best way to produce electricity from it? For my project, I want to put some light magnets on the flywheel and have some silver wiring around it to hook up to an RC cars electric motor.
How would you guys do it? Would this even work? I need to generate electricity from this to drive an RC car and I need all the help I can get.
ChristianOoo, If this is the motor I think it is, the flywheels 2" maybe less ( its sold by Jaycar in New Zealand), If you stuck some magnets to the rim of one of the fly wheels, perhaps 6, and put a coil of wire close to it, you might light an LED, it will blink because of the AC current, to run a motor of this set up it would require a diode to give you DC current, that will rob you .5Volt, and it would be a very small motor that you might be able to run, I don't think a RC car could be run from it. Best of luck, Ian S C
Thanks a lot Ian! This is not the one but it is similar. The one I have is much better in that I use a blow torch to light it and it is much faster than this one. I just used this image very quickly because it is the same design.
