Hi,
All articles about stirling engines mention to use well sealed displacer, seems logic to. I just stumbled into an article in a German magazine.
Seems to me the displacer is hollow. Is this correct...? Will this engine work...?
I'm not planning to build this one, just curious.

Chris, I would on first looking at it would say no, but then again I'm not too sure, what did the magazine say about the engine, and has a prototype been built? Ian S C

This looks like a version of a transferator although most users have the 'hollow pot' facing the other way (open end towards the heater) with the end of the heater formed to fit inside the pot, I fail to see the attraction due to radiant and conductive losses through the displacer. The mass, appears at first sight to be lower than a conventional, cylindrical displacer, but by the time a thermal barrier has been built into the transferator you're back where you started.
