Sometimes, when researching what others have made in the past (some of them well-done by engineers), it helps to have a name to start the search with. DAF in Holland had a Philips engine in a bus. It was a 4 cylinder rhombic drive motor developing about100 hp at 3000rpm, driving through a normal gearbox, they also fitted a stirling engine in one of their small cars with a variable speed drive ( I think that was the drive used in the IC version of the car.
The production model of the Whisper Gen produces 1Kw of electrical power, plus 5Kw of heating ie., hot water/ central heating. Ian S C

Regarding the companies that manufacture domestic CHP units, are any in North America? Are there companies, from anywhere, marketing CHP units in Canada or the US. I see that Whispergen are sold and supported in a half dozen or so EU countries, but not in the Americas. Ron T

Ron, perhaps if our two governments sort out the free trade agreement they have been talking of for years, maybe then......... Although Whisper Gen is built in Spain, it was designed and developed in Christchurch New Zealand, about 40Km from where I live, and further work is being done. Ian S C
