Hello all. I live in Seattle and have worked internationally for many years. I am very interested in stirling engines that can be powered by a wood fire somehow. About 2 billion people use open wood fires to cook every day. That is so much waste heat! I am researching 20W engines that can drive small generators and charge phones and LED lights. Now, how to use a wood fire to run it??? Please contact me if that interests you!

I'm new here and I'm a real person too.
I'm interested in putting a 100W-1000W Stirling engine on a Rocket Mass heater, probably pressurized with compressed air and probably all built inside a compressed air tank to generate electricity and make hot water. My degree is in Physics, and I used to run a CNC machine shop, so I understand the theory and some of the problems, but I still don't have any real world experience.

Hello! I am here and I enjoy reading all the info about these chill little engines. Why engines though? We were always told that engines undergo irreversible conversion of some fuel whereas motors such as these convert heat to mechanical energy directly. Also does anyone here know a lot about rotary stirling engines?

Dociron, have a look in my gallery, you will find a photo of my stove top fan, this would take three 3/16" x 2"or 3" UNF bolts to convert it to a motor requiring a burner under the hot end, 5 minutes work. The piston is 30 mm dia. and the stroke is 20 mm, the fan is 300 mm dia.
I think there will be some other ideas in other galleries. Ian S C
