Opposed Cylinder stirling
Opposed Cylinder stirling
Out of curiosity, has any one made an opposed cylinder Stirling? I searched the forum but couldn't readily find anything. To me it seems like it would be something similar to a alpha, yet the pistons would have to be mounted to the crank at 90° like a beta.

I think the best way would be 4 cylinders, 2 hot, and 2 cold. Mounted opposite each other and working on the same crankshaft.
The cylinders would be the same bore and stroke.

I also think there is a purpose for doing an opposed cylinder Gamma as that would allow pressurization balance and need less mass in flywheel.
