An LTD type engine might not be the best design. An alpha or some other type might due just as well or better, but I always thought seeing was believing. That large LTD in the video Aviator168 posted is driving a 1500 watt generator. Isn't it?

Magnetic gear can't be used in a crank. A very important function of the crank is to synchronize the movements of the pistons, can't have any slippages.

Had a look at the magnetic Hypocyloid gear yesterday when I was looking for something else, it did not show the gear under load, or indicate the amount of drag caused by the magnets.
