Help Needed Building a Gamma Type Engine to Run a Model Car
Re: Help Needed Building a Gamma Type Engine to Run a Model
Now you'll have to machine a proper crankshaft that will stand the stress of running, I aim for a free running speed of 1500rpm +, best power, ie., under load seems to be about half the maximum. Ian S C

HI,
I AM BUILDING GAMMA TYPE STIRLING ENGINE..ALL THE THINGS ARE OK AND MATERIAL IS PROPERLY CHOOSE AND USED (HSS) ....BUT PROBLEM IS THAT THE ENGINE DOES NOT RUNNING MORE THE 3 TO 4 RPM...I AM USING STOOP TO HEAT UP THE DISPLACER CYLINDER....I HAVE CONNECTED THE POWER PISTON AND DISPLACER THROUGH A SLEEVED PLATE....WHICH YOU CAN SEE IN PICTURE....DO YOU THINK THIS IS NOT GOOD TO USE PLATE....I MEAN MOSTLY WE USES PIPE TO TRANSFER PRESSURE FROM DISPLACER TO POWER PISTON.....

The plate is quite OK as long as it is completely sealed, and there are NO air leaks, I use Loctite liquid gasket for sealing, but you'll think of something if you have not got anything like that.
