This guy, in the Netherlands, does sell two of these engines. He asks € 400,- at least, per engine. engine

Just going by the rest of this thread, I would be very carefull, these motors look very similar to the one that the thread was written about. Ian S C

It is often claimed that the Stirling engine has too low a power/weight ratio, too high a cost, and too long a starting time for automotive applications. They also have complex and expensive heat exchangers. A Stirling cooler must reject twice as much heat as an Otto engine or Diesel engine radiator. The heater must be made of stainless steel, exotic alloy or ceramic to support high heater temperatures needed for high power density, and to contain hydrogen gas that is often used in automotive Stirlings to maximize power.

I have one of these engines from Hyporex and it runs well, but to claim any more than a few watts out of it is ridiculous.

I'm sure the video of the workshop where the Hyporex motors are made will have been posted before, but just in case -

nickh, I, and a few others here would agree with you that the power claims are a bit optimistic. Going by the theme of this thread, I'd say you are probably lucky you got yours.

mikeptag wrote:Im curious too if you got the engine yet. Interestingly I did a search, I think I typed ky-ko fan Pakistan, and I found out a reproduction of the fan is being produced in Pakistan again (the head of the company claiming to have "invented" it!) and also the same ebay seller Hyporex had been also selling the fans in the UK ebay. The images of the fan and the stirling are identical, except the fans are painted blue, and of course a fan instead of a flywheel.

Despite this discovery Im still interested in getting one for experimenting with an axial flux generator. I had this idea a few years ago and almost bought a fan for that purpose from someone in Australia...

With all the Hyporex stirlings being sold on ebay, I havent found a forum yet where someone posted that they got one.
NOTIFICATION: The person referred here in your post as "the head of the company" is an EX employee of "hyporex.ca", Hyporex would never call itself as an inventor unless it has filed for and BEEN granted a patent.

Its an old KyKo design. These guys are second rate, you should proceed with caution with their engines..
FYI: We have proven not being second rated, http://www.hyporex.ca/testimonial.php

Sorry to be a spoil sport but using an internal reference for testimonials is at best subject to doubt, and at worst self serving.

Have any links to impartial reviews NOT hosted on your own web site?

Well I can vouch for at least one of those feedback comments because it was mine!

As I said, overall I am vey pleased with the engine - but I did go in with open eyes, knowing what to expect in terms of power rather than accepting the sellers claims at face value.

OK, that's not exactly what I was getting at. I am only pointing out that independent review is really the only viable means at our disposal to determine if the claims, and supposed outrage, are in fact based in merit. If the engine produces the power claimed then submit that engine for testing and let the chips fall as they may. Is an internet forum the place to have this drama unfold?

Sorry for misunderstandings for not being precise. I did not mean what I wrote to be understood as accusing anyone at Hyporex of claiming to invent the Stirling fan. The person I am refering to is named Waheed Babur. Heres is a link to the youtube news article. http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/gas ... d-shedding Its not in english so read the comments below because theres more info, including a closeup video of the Stirling fan.

also: http://www.web.pk/2011/gas-fan-waheed-babar/

Heres his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gas-Fan/183678745004197

It was a simple observance that the Stirling engine that powers the fan looks like the basic Hyporex engine. I think its great Hyporex is researching making an already mass produced design produce power. Im am rooting for you!

As previously mentioned, Mr. Waheed Babar is an ex employee of hyporex, we allowed him to sell fans in Pakistan, he got his own factory set-up but his production is limited to fans only. We really appreciate your encouraging comments and your concentrated observance.
