pressure bushing for connecting rod

Post by culinadge »

I want to build a stirling that I can pressurize. What should I use for the bushing or fitting where the connecting rod exits the displacer cylinder to connect with the flywheel?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi

Im trying to make a pressurized engine like you are. The sealings I have found that might do the job are:

(type: Hat F)

They look like they have a low fiction.

How much pressure do you have i mind for your engine. I'll hope mine can run with up to 20 bar (290psi).

When considering seals, examine the pressure distribution on the section and estimate the resulting forces. Be aware of lubrication, distortions and jamming, too. Then make a prediction of friction.
As always, the Devil is in the detail. But insight pays off.

I am curious why pressurizing the canister will have any impact? Does this improve performance?
