Hello all, I am very glad to have found a Stirling forum to bounce some ideas and concepts of seasoned builders.
I have built Gamma and a basic beta moto over the last 2 weeks and have machining, CNC and cad trade experience so have a design on the go to utililize water jet cut cylinder with formed stainless hotcap.
The walking beam in plans has a large area of dead space above the feed to the power piston and I wanted to ask if this reduces pressure on power piston?
My Gamma has a displacer cylinder that is a can with upper 1/3 thick alloy. I have a tig welded 3/16" flange on hotcap, then a 1/2" alloy flange with same bore 70mm x2 =1" above this on way to 1/4" dual hard lines to power piston on top isolated a disk with "fan" holes, stainless scrubby, fan plate again, a 1/4" flange ring 70mm dia, then the displacer rod exit centre with 1/4" hose barbs or hard line couplings.
Whoa, so excited to be here don't want to get carried away. I am trying to make a modern design and hope to make a kit. The waterjet flanges will have Viton o-ring seats and carbon fiber/nbr binded gasket sheet made for high pressure.
Thanks,
Steve
