Hi,
Im building a Lamina Flow Engine, the main material which im using is acrylic 3.25mm thick and using epox to glue together and it is strong. I'm using a Denford Laser Cutter.
New:
Parts List:
Fly Wheel : Aluminum 8mm thick with diameter of 70mm.
Fly Wheel: 10mm Hard drive Bearing.
Piston: Dashpot Actuator
Pyrex Testtube: Full of Steel Wool
Burner: Currently a small home candle.
There is no slack in the base or any other parts.
In my new version i have add rubber O rings to all the seals and there is VACUUM in the piston (i can't tell if its a good thing?)
But can't seem to get it running? any suggestion will update this with more accurate sizes and pictures and a video.
This is a old picture:

Re: Lamina Flow Engine Help?
Sorry Man50, can'tsee your picture, what part of the engine are you making out of the acrylic? Is the dashpot actuator aglass tube, with a graphite piston? Ian S C
Re: Lamina Flow Engine Help?
Yes it's the graphite piston the acrylic is used for the base and the main structure.
This is the old picture will take new ones today.

Re: Lamina Flow Engine Help?
Thats better, Can see most except the end filled with steel wool, I suppose thats yet to be fitted in that photo.
The crank big end needs to be tightened up a bit, maybe you could get a bit of metalrod with a hole through itthat would fit on the crankpin without too much shake, and the loop on the con - rodcould fit tightly round the little bush, you could use a bit of glue to hold the bits together. I'll await further photos to see the hot end.
There have been a number of threads on Lamina Flow motors, its worth spending a little time trawling through some of the threads. Ian S C

Here is a Video of it Working:-
Will upload the reset of the designs and cad files for anyone to print.

Re: Lamina Flow Engine Help?
Nice, but acrylic?
R
ETA< Oh, I see the acrylic base now. I was so focused on the engine I missed that the first time through.
