I agree with you. Longer pillars and heavier flywheel would be great.
If and when i get this machine running maybe i build my second unit where i incorporate all these improvements. We'll see
But i'll let you know when i get this one running

DON"T give up, you'r heading in the right direction, just work on conventional designs, don't try anything too fancy until you get the motor running, and you fully understand it's workings. Made my first motor in 1990,(parts of it are incorperated in another motor now), it was a V type motor, requiring only one pin on the crankshaft. Work carefully, and you will have a motor that will last a life time, or maybe a good bit more,if its going to last more, or you give it to someone (kids or grandkids), write some instructions on how it works, and how to run it.
