Philips Stirling Engine Price $
Philips Stirling Engine Price $
How much might i expect to pay for a Philips stirling engine (portable generator). I'm pretty sure its not currently in working order??
Re: Philips Stirling Engine Price $
Vamoose, how long is a bit of string? I would imagine one of those would be a collectors piece, so the seller might ask big money, then again it's a specialist market, so there may not be too many buyers (hopefully), I would say, if at all possible BUY IT, going by the price of old stationary engines over this side of the Tasman, you would not get it for less than $NZ2000, but try and haggle it down, it must be saved. The only one I know is in the engineering lab at Canterbury Univesity, in Christchurch. Ian S C
Re: Philips Stirling Engine Price $
The subject came up about stirling engines (cos i cant seem to shut up about them at the moment) with a friend at a barby recently and he reiterated a story to me about an uncle of his that had a 'Philips stirling engine'. I showed him pictures and he recognised seeing it (and also touching it) as a kid in his shed. Another of his cousins also distinctly remembers it, and also remembers his uncle talking about it. He died several years ago without kids, and no-one can recall where it went (and had no idea what it was). We are trying to track it down (so far without success) I would gladly buy into it if possible and help restore it if we can find it (I hope its not 'gone'). My friend thinks he remembers his uncle saying that he acquired it whilst in PNG, many years ago....
I would so love to see one in real life. I'm pretty sure there is also one, down south, in Victoria. I have seen a couple of pictures and chatted to some people over the net about it.
(here's hoping)
