Andy Ross Book

Post by jeff.bowman »

Hello All

I just joined the forum and this is my first post.

I've been able to locate and download a PDF copy of Andy Ross' famous book "Making Stirling Engines, 3rd Edition." I don't believe uploading it here for educational purposes will be a copyright violation, especially considering that the author has explicitly allowed such use in his foreword.

I'd like to do so for the benefit of the community. Is there a particular place for material such as this, so that it can be easily found by anyone in the future? (Note: it's 53½ MB in size.)

Thanks,
Jeff Bowman

AFAIK there's no section in this forum for this type of file. Nevertheless, excellent heads up...

Andy Ross has his "Making Stirling Engines" (3rd ed.) available thru this Urieli link as a direct PDF download (no cost, nor acct. req'd)

https://people.ohio.edu/urieli/stirling ... ngines.pdf

Anyone scheming SE should read this...a few times. It's a detailed account of his SE history loaded with design specs and devoid of theory. If you read this book, watch how he chases 1 wt per cc, but never admits this.

There's a lot of takeaways in this book that will pass under the radar, my favorite being that his text calls his first 35cc kit an alpha while the included 'blueprint' calls it a...Rider !!!

Thanks Jeff. Maybe for now you can just post the link in the sticky at the top of the page.

Hm, I guess you lost me there. Are you referring to the 'Website Links Area and Magazine Articles' topic? Maybe so; that seems like it might be a good place for the link.

But actually, it was Matt who supplied the link, so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to do so. But I agree with the idea.
