ST-5 Stirling engine (5hp)

Post by airpower »

The engine in the video was build by a company in Chennai (no longer in business) and designed by https://www.sunpowerinc.com/ (plans not public available)
Doing some village milling work and not running on full power.

To much torque and no longer in operation, replaced by solar tech. Drawing in reference on page 62 is not the ST-5 it is an old design which was developed in Bangladesh before the ST-5

Japanese model of the ST-5 running with wood chips or rise hulls. Again a lot of vibrations.....

In March of this year (2012), we delivered a cogeneration system using a Stirling engine that can obtain electricity and hot water using biomass such as thinned wood and waste wood as fuel. This is a stand-alone system that can generate 3kW (max) of electricity and hot water without using any power from the power company. We hope that it will be one of the triggers for recovery from the earthquake.

Found the pdf of this thing on the wayback machine

It's noticable that it is dated as batteries are used as energy storage, a real bad choice. Compressed air storage, cheap, long lasting.

Something similar, that seems like some kind of workshop with a neat typical alpha setup so he could do away with all the extra levers..
