Astonishingly, from the breakdown, it appears that there are no actual heavy internal moving parts, such as displacer, to slow it down, just the diaphragms and linkages between them. It appears that the Regenerator is stationary. Ingenious!

I'm not sure what the white substance on the base of the regenerator can might be, or what its purpose or significance is, if any.

Hello everybody the sealant on the bottom is gasket cement it insulates the inside can and isolates the heat my next one has a 22cm diameter hot interface and also making a double action version stay tuned

Cheers I might have been slowly coming to that conclusion but are you sure you would not call this a hybrid of some sort as other enthusiasts seem to think so I Honestly am not sure

Hi Tristan. Nothing intelligent to add here other than no, L.T.D. in this context stands for"Low temperature difference" You probably know that but in the Forum's interest we need to try to be accurate. You're engine is quite interesting.

There is a lot of different opinions and speculation about how heat engines in general, function, and so-called "Thermoacoustic" engines are probably the most controversial of all.

What I would not call a small engine running at high speed over a flaming bunsen burner is "Low Temperature" anything.

Everyone seems to have their own theories.

Now you've got me wondering if that membrane displacer could be actuated by the Ringbom principle.
Displacer membrane, an actuator membrane straightly opposite the displacer membrane, and no mechanical linkage between the crankshaft, and the displacer membrane.

Another think that strikes me, is that the membrane displacer type of engine could be easlily built in a horizontal configuration as well.
It's suspended with the mechanical linkage between either the crankshaft, or the actuator membrane, and can operate in horizontal position without any additional friction. This would make very compactly built engines possible.

I've looked at the "NASA" free piston engine as well that is able to drive a crankshaft as well (it basically functions as an inverted ringbom then).
Now I'm wondering if the "NASA" type of displacer could actuate a larger membrane..
