Hi Everyone,
Just registered with the site, its looks like a good place to bounce ideas around and give/get feedback.
My name is Paul, 28 and from Dublin,Ireland.
I've been working on a micro stirling engine on and off for about a year, its 2 inches tall and 1 inch in diameter, i'll attach a couple of images of the prototype i have so far with this post (the pictures are quite old so the prototype i have now has been slightly modified). At the moment i am currently waiting on one part from Australia, its the connecting rod to go from the power piston to the flywheel, as far as i can tell the engine might run on the heat of my hand but will definitely run on a hotter source - i had the power piston moving up and down inside its cylinder with a 3 second blast of heat from a lighter flame, unfortunately as i do not have the connecting rod from power piston to flywheel i cannot be positive of it running on a lower heat source.
I use a Taig CNC mill to make the majority of my parts but i am just a novice machinist, if i was any use i should be able to make my own con rod ,oh well.
Has anyone else tried to make a small ltd stirling and if so, what problems did you encounter?
I also have a Youtube account so if anyone wants to can add me as a friend on it go ahead, here's a vid i made about the stirling engine cycle last year - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDntL4GZh0E
Anyway, hope to talk to you all soon,
Cheers,
Paul

Re: Newbie
Thats awesome! Be nice to see a video of it running. I did try making a tiny Stirling
like that out of two copper 2p (about the size of your euro) but it never ran.
I've subscribed to your channel, nice vids there.
