What fastener to use on Hot Cylinder?

Post by DangerouslyExplosive »

Hello all,

I have had a sterling engine (which I got on Amazon) for a couple of years now, and whatever was holding the Hot Cylinder (glass tube) in place on the metal bit has finally decided to crack. Consequently, my engine no longer runs. I've been looking around, but I can't seem to find out what kind of glue, o-ring, or fastener I am supposed to use to re-attach the hot cylinder.

Attached is a picture of the hot cylinder and it's mount.

Any idea what I should use?

I would use high temp silicon (red). It comes in a handy tube and you can purchase from any bearing, engineering or even Bunnings stores.
Glass does not transmit heat readily so the adhesive will wok here quite well.
