Modifying a car engine?

Hi everyone

Can I turn a car engine into a stirling engine?
I was thinking to obtain a car engine from an old car and modify it so that it can be powered using wood.

I am not planning to run as a car. I was thinking to run as a water pump.

I also thought along those lines but have not able to find a reasonable engine with 90 ° angle between the cylinders.
An appropriate engine would be V4, but the ones I've seen have 180 ° between the cylinders.
A V8 could work but is big and relatively expensive here where I live.
