Re: Hi everybody, I am new to the forum :)
Great to have you on the forum. If you are able post pictures or drawings of you rotary Stirling engine. We would love to see it.

Re: Large scale Geothermal developement
A thermal engine will never reach carnot efficiency. Carnot efficiency suppose infinite stable thermodynamics transformations. This is important. I should have mentioned it in my post. The Carnot cycle is the ideal efficiency of any thermodynamic cycle operating between two temperature resovoirs. T...

Re: Displacer Chamber PSI ?
It is very common and widely accepted to use an isothermal analysis in first order analyzes. I agree with CanadaPhysics. The easiest, most conservative way is to assume that the cylinder is at some static pressure before heating, calculate the mass of the air, and calculate volume of the air. Then a...

Very impressive engines. The videos are a very nice touch. Did the original Stirling fan require restoration? Do you have anymore information on who made it, how much it originally cost, etc?

Re: Usable Power for Stirling Engines?
There is a larger problem with running a Stirling engine in a freezer. In order to keep the freezer cold the freezer must use electrical energy. Much of this energy is wasted in the form of friction and heat dissipated out of the back of the freezer. The user, however, is paying for this lost heat i...

Re: Large scale Geothermal developement
This sort of engine would definitely need to be low temperature difference. This means a large displacer diameter to stroke ratio is required for efficient operation. This also means a shorter power piston stroke would be necessary. It should be noted that the efficiency of a heat engine cannot exce...

Re: Building a small alternator
I am very impressed with the ingenuity of the hinged angle displacer. Next engine it would be great if we could all see in-progress pictures. It's always nice to see how others go about making things. Great work.

Re: Stirling engine design feasibility
I agree with the previous post that this engine design is not feasible as drawn; however, with a few modifications it may be possible to run a free piston ringbom stirling engine similarly. I have attached a depiction of such an engine. I hope this may help. http://www.moteurstirling.com/images/free...

Re: LTD builders info
This experimental finding matches with LTD stirling engine analytical work as well as published experimental findings. Many experimental LTD engines have variable power piston stroke in order to re-adjust the swept volume of the power piston based on the running temperature difference.
