Variable displacement engines

I have been hearing a lot of talk about variable displacement engines in the automotive industry and it made me start to think. Why couldn't the same idea be applied to Stirling engines? I understand that the amount of bearings would have to be increased but think about the Ross yoke, it has quite a...

The book that I was speaking of was written by Roy Darlington from the UK.
do you know where I could get my hands on some of Rizzo's works?

Re: My first post. Advice needed.

Wellington, I,m just starting in stirling engines as well but one excellent, excellent, book that has helped me a lot is called STIRLING AND HOT AIR ENGINES. It is a must read. I work with ATVs and i think one of the best alternators that you could get would be the one for the 1988 Kawasaki Bayou 22...

Re: Engine pressurisation question

In theory the crankcase and the swept space should have equal pressure if the engine is pressurized or not. If theory is right, then rpm should be decided by the pressurization's influence on engine power. So it seems that rpm and pressurization is not directly related.

Re: Does the stirling engine have a future in competing with IC engines?

I work on ATVs a good deal. atvs do need a lot of torque. stirling engines have high rpm with low power. perfect for driving a hydraulic pump!

what do you guys think about using the stirling engine in a hydrostatic/mechanical atv?

Re: Does the stirling engine have a future in competing with IC engines?

I mean, we can talk about stirling engines all that we want, but how can stirling engines in reality do anything for the world?

What do you guys think about connecting a stirling engine to a hydrostatic transmission? For use in an ATV.

Re: New high power stirling engine design.

Ian, To answer your first thought, i have come up with my plans ( and most of the specifications ) in my head. The machine tools i can use are mostly computer operated. So some degree of a CAD is required. From what i have read, the difference between the stirling and alpha engines is that the stirl...
