Re: Rider Ericsson Patterns or parts 8"?
Hi, welcome to the forum Do you have any photos on-line of your engine? I don't know anything about your engine or where to get parts, but I would certainly like to see what it looks like.

Re: My observation on home built strings.
I don't keep good health, so I had to sell all my steam bits and bobs off a while ago when I was unwell and short on funds. Despite puddling around with railway models in the garden in a small way and being somewhat of an enthusiast steam wasn't a direction I wanted to go in really and i was always ...

Re: My observation on home built strings.
Here is my observation why almost all the home built stirlings don't have much power, and most of them can't even run with a small load. One needs to look no further than the small heat exchange area on the gas side and the path the gas goes through the heater. It is ironic that no one can give a g...

Re: "Hi" We are new here!
Good to see someone with machinery, you can't drive much with a tin can motor. They are all right I suppose to see how these motors work. My motors range from fractions of a Watt, up to 5 Watts or so. After the lathe, mill, bandsaw etc, I want a TIG welder(dream on) Ian S C TIG is something I haven...

Re: Large (low power) beta engine on gasifier pellet stove
Thanks Ian, - I saw your reply. For a start I think I will be content if the engine actually works. I have tracked down a nice old 35mm diameter flywheel too, - somebody was advertising it as a 'garden ornament'.

Re: "Hi" We are new here!
Thanks for the welcome Ian I should have mentioned that I do have a lathe, - a Myford which was my present to myself when I retired.
Thank you too for the tip about using a DC motor from a treadmill, - I will look into that.

Re: "Hi" We are new here!
Hello I'm new to the forum and new to Stirling engines. I would like to build a gamma type engine that would run a modified car alternator and while I'm reasonably skilled with light car and elderly motorcycle projects and can weld and braze & etc learning about Stirling engines is going to be a...

Re: Large (low power) beta engine on gasifier pellet stove
Nice work :) Your engine runs very well. May I ask where you obtained your flywheel?
