These things really do work. I just wanted to post this so folks out there thinking they can't get it going will keep trying. I worried with this thing for 3 weeks straight, got some advice, left it alone for about a week and tonight, I am proud to say, got it going. I am not breaking any rpm record...

You may want to do a little research. It is my understanding that General Motors (USA) actually committed quite a bit of research to this issue and did develop working models for automobiles. I think they backed off of it due to costs associated with mass production (at that time), I also understand...

Jan, thanks for clearing that up. I think I was leaning more toward expecting the the force of the power piston to overcome the inbalance in the wheel. So my new approach and "mantra" will be balance. I have added a bearing to the walkiing beam to cut down on friction. It does seem like wh...

Thanks guys for the direction. I have never seen one of these operate outside of the internet, and I just needed an idea of how loose to make the moving parts. If these are supposed to spin freely with the power piston connected then obviously mine is way too tight. I will follow your suggestions.

I am just curious, has anyone tried building a stirling out of PVC or plastic components? I was thinking of experimenting with using PVC or plastic and in place of an open flame, using boiling water as a heat source.
